Mahogany Homes Expert gives the most XP per action (2,048 XP) but requires travelling between houses. Mahogany Tables give 840 XP per build with continuous in-house training.
Mahogany Tables provide 900K-950K XP/hr with Demon Butler. Oak methods cap around 180K-200K XP/hr. The speed difference is 5× faster for Mahogany.

Most players target level 83 for a max POH. Mahogany costs ~48M GP and takes ~5 hours. Oak costs ~22M GP and takes ~31 hours. The GP savings are significant, but so is the time investment.
Going all the way to 99, Mahogany costs ~148M GP in ~14 hours. Oak costs ~63M GP in ~72 hours. That's 85M GP difference for 58 hours saved.
If you value your time at ~1.5M GP/hr, Mahogany is better. If you can earn less than 1.5M GP/hr, Oak saves more. High-level PvMers usually choose Mahogany.
Ironmen gathering their own planks should use Mahogany Homes Expert for best plank efficiency. Oak methods require more planks total but Oak Planks are easier to obtain.

Mahogany Homes is usually best for Ironmen. Self-gathered Teak planks from Fossil Island + Plank Make spell. Lower plank count per XP than POH methods.
