Construction Boost Decision Flow

Follow this flow to determine the best boost strategy for your target build.

Crystal Saw (+3 Invisible)

The Crystal Saw provides an invisible +3 boost that stacks with visible boosts. Obtained from the Eyes of Glouphrie quest. Only works on furniture that requires a saw to build — doesn't work on pools, altars, or certain decorations.

Builder's Tea (+1/+2/+3 Visible)

Tea from your POH kitchen provides a visible Construction boost. Clay cups give +1, Porcelain cups +2, and Gold-trimmed cups +3. Reliable and easy to use repeatedly.

Spicy Stew with Orange Spice (+5 Visible)

Orange spice in a Spicy Stew can boost Construction by +5 (maximum) but it's random. You might get -5 to +5. The chance of getting +5 is approximately 4.5% per attempt with 3 doses.

Crystal Saw + Tea Combination (+6)

The most reliable maximum boost: Crystal Saw (+3 invisible) + Gold-trim Tea (+3 visible) = +6 effective levels. This is how most players build Ornate Pool at level 84 instead of 90.

Crystal Saw + Spicy Stew (+8)

The absolute maximum possible boost: Crystal Saw (+3 invisible) + Spicy Stew (+5 visible) = +8 levels. However, the stew is unreliable — expect many failed attempts.

Why Crystal Saw Is Unique

The Crystal Saw provides an invisible boost — it doesn't change your visible Construction level. This means you can use it alongside any visible boost (Tea, Stew, Cape) for a combined effect. No other Construction boost works this way.

Crystal Saw Limitation

The Crystal Saw only works on objects that require a saw. Pools, altars, and certain decorative objects don't benefit from the Crystal Saw boost. Check the "Requires Saw" column in the boost comparison to verify.

Should You Boost or Just Train?

If you only need +1 to +6 levels, boosting with Crystal Saw + Tea is reliable and free. For +7 or +8, the Spicy Stew approach requires patience and multiple attempts. If you need more than +8, you must train higher.

Tips for Spicy Stew Boosting

Stock Multiple Stews

Bring at least 25–30 stews for a +5 boost attempt. With a 4.5% success rate, you'll statistically need ~22 attempts on average.

Use a Bookcase Strategy

Keep your POH in building mode with the object hotspot ready. Eat a stew, and if you get the right boost, immediately build. If not, eat another.

Cat Farming for Spices

Train a kitten into a wily cat, then hunt Behemoth rats in Evil Dave's section of Subterranean Evil Dave's basement for orange spice drops.

Know the Timer

Visible boosts drain by 1 level per minute. You have approximately 60 seconds to build after getting a +5 stew boost before it drops to +4.

Pre-Build Everything Else

Make sure all prerequisites (room, other furniture, materials in inventory) are ready before attempting the stew boost. Don't waste a successful boost on preparation.
