Levels 1–30 require only 13,363 XP total — a tiny fraction of level 99. Use any available training method; these levels take minutes regardless of efficiency. Quests like Waterfall Quest can instantly jump Attack and Strength to level 30.
At this range (13K–274K XP), you start accessing efficient training methods. Focus on unlocking key milestones: level 33 for Oak Larders, level 43 for Superheat, level 55 for High Alchemy. Each unlock dramatically improves XP rates.
This range spans 274K to 5.3M XP. You'll spend most of your time here. Choose between speed (expensive) and efficiency (budget). The decision here defines your total training cost and time investment.
Levels 90–99 require 7.7M XP — nearly 60% of the total. This is where XP per hour matters most. Switch to your fastest available method and prepare for a marathon. Most players take 2–4 weeks for this final stretch.
Due to the exponential XP curve, level 92 requires 6,517,253 XP — almost exactly half of the 13,034,431 XP needed for level 99. This means leveling from 92 to 99 takes approximately the same effort as going from level 1 to 92. Many players find this demotivating, but understanding this curve helps set realistic expectations.
Each level requires approximately 10% more XP than the previous one. Level 98 to 99 alone requires 1,228,825 XP — more than the total XP needed for level 1 to 75! This exponential growth is why high-level training feels increasingly slow even though your XP rates are faster.
Over 59% of the total XP to 99 is earned in the final bracket (levels 90–99), showing the steep progression curve.
Calculate XP needed for Attack levels. Common training methods include slaying monsters with aggressive melee combat styles.
Track Strength XP for higher max hits. Strength directly increases melee damage output.

Fletching is fast to train — cutting magic longbows gives 91.5 XP each with high hourly rates.
Herblore is a buyable skill. Making potions from herbs and secondary ingredients gives XP per potion.
Hunter uses various trapping methods. Birdhouse runs provide passive XP with minimal effort.
Mining methods range from iron ore power mining to Motherlode Mine and Volcanic Mine.
Smithing is commonly trained at the Blast Furnace. Gold bars with Goldsmith Gauntlets give 56.2 XP each.
Woodcutting progression goes from trees to oaks to willows to teaks. 2-tick teaks offer the highest rates.
Farming is trained through runs. Tree and fruit tree runs give large XP drops at long intervals.
Agility requires completing laps on rooftop courses. Hallowed Sepulchre offers the best rates at high levels.
Slayer XP equals HP damage dealt. Calculate tasks needed based on average XP per task.
Thieving is trained by pickpocketing NPCs and opening chests. Ardy Knights give 84 XP per pickpocket.

Level 70 requires 737,627 XP. Many best-in-slot equipment pieces and important skill unlocks happen at level 70.
Level 80 requires 1,986,068 XP — nearly 2 million XP. The grind starts becoming noticeable here.
Level 90 requires 5,346,332 XP. Only about 40% of the way to 99 by XP, even though it's 91% by level numbers.
Level 92 requires 6,517,253 XP — almost exactly half of the 13,034,431 XP needed for level 99. This makes level 92 the true "halfway point" by experience, not level 50. The exponential XP curve means the last 7 levels (92→99) require as much XP as levels 1→92 combined.
Level 99 requires exactly 13,034,431 XP. This is the maximum skill level and earns you a Skill Cape (skillcape) when achieved.
The absolute maximum XP in any skill is 200,000,000 XP. This is approximately 15.35 times the XP needed for level 99. Reaching 200M XP is a prestigious accomplishment that takes hundreds to thousands of hours depending on the skill.
Farming requires the fewest "actions" (tree runs), while combat skills like Hitpoints need millions of individual hits.
OSRS uses a specific formula to determine the XP threshold for each level. The total XP required for level L is the sum of floor(L + 300 × 2^(L/7)) / 4 for all levels up to L-1.
