Forma Más Rápida de Entrenar Construcción

Mahogany Tables with a Demon Butler is the fastest Construction training method in Old School RuneScape. At 840 XP per build and 6 Mahogany Planks each, you can reach over 900,000 XP per hour. From level 52 to 99, that's roughly 14 hours of active training. The Demon Butler costs 10,000 GP to hire and charges 10,000 GP per 8 un-noting trips. Compare every method side by side with the construction training method calculator.

Forma Más Barata de Entrenar Construcción

Mahogany Homes Expert contracts offer the lowest GP per XP ratio for Construction training. You'll spend around 3.2 GP per XP using this method, compared to 9.8 GP/XP with Oak Larders or 14.1 GP/XP with Mahogany Tables. The tradeoff is speed — Mahogany Homes Expert gives about 280,000 XP per hour, roughly a third of Mahogany Tables. Find the best rate for your account with the GP per XP calculator.

Best GP per XP Method

For traditional POH training, Oak Larders give the best GP per XP at approximately 9.8 GP/XP. Each Oak Larder requires 8 Oak Planks (about 586 GP each) and gives 480 XP. You can build them from level 33 onward. For an even cheaper option, Mahogany Homes contracts beat every traditional method on cost efficiency.

Cost to 99 Construction

The cost to 99 Construction ranges from about 42M GP (Mahogany Homes Expert) to 150M+ GP (Mahogany Tables). Using only Oak Larders, expect to spend around 65-75M GP. Most players mix methods — Oak Larders for budget phases, Mahogany Tables when they want speed. Use this Construction Calculator above to get an exact cost based on your current level and chosen method. Plan your budget with the construction cost calculator.

Time to Reach Level 99

With Mahogany Tables and a Demon Butler, reaching level 99 Construction takes roughly 14 hours from level 52. With Oak Larders at 180,000 XP/hour, it takes about 72 hours. Mahogany Homes Expert at 280,000 XP/hour takes around 46 hours. The total time depends on your starting level — use the calculator for a precise estimate. Estimate your own training time with the construction time calculator.

How Construction Works

Construction in Old School RuneScape lets you build and upgrade a Player-Owned House (POH). You buy planks from the Grand Exchange, enter your house in building mode, and build furniture at predefined hotspots. Each item you build gives Construction XP. To keep training, you remove the built item and rebuild it. The Butler or Demon Butler can fetch more planks from your bank, so you never need to leave your house. Check the XP and materials for individual pieces with the furniture calculator.

Why Train Construction?

A fully upgraded POH is one of the most powerful tools in OSRS. It gives you free unlimited teleports, full health/prayer/stat restoration, quick access to fairy rings and spirit trees, and a place to switch spellbooks — all from a single House Teleport. Most PvM players consider Construction the best quality-of-life skill in the game.

Benefits of Construction

  • Ornate Rejuvenation Pool — restores all stats, HP, prayer, special attack, and run energy in one click
  • Portal Nexus — up to 30 teleport destinations from one object
  • Ornate Jewellery Box — every jewellery teleport in the game, unlimited uses
  • Gilded Altar — 350% Prayer XP when both burners are lit
  • Fairy Ring + Spirit Tree — combined teleport network in your garden
  • Occult Altar — switch between all spellbooks without travelling

Experience Calculation

The calculator looks up your current level and target level in the official OSRS experience table. Level 1 starts at 0 XP and level 99 requires 13,034,431 XP. The difference between these two values is your experience remaining. For any other skill, use the general XP calculator or the level calculator.

Cost Calculation

Total cost equals the number of planks required multiplied by the Grand Exchange price per plank. Oak Planks cost about 586 GP, Teak Planks about 1,122 GP, and Mahogany Planks about 1,974 GP. Butler fees add a small overhead (roughly 2-5% of total cost). Work out plank quantities and conversion costs with the plank calculator.

GP per XP Calculation

GP per XP is your total cost divided by total XP gained. Lower numbers mean cheaper training. Oak Larders sit around 9.8 GP/XP, while Mahogany Tables are about 14.1 GP/XP. This metric makes it simple to compare any two methods head-to-head.

XP per Hour Estimation

XP per hour estimates assume you use a Demon Butler for traditional methods and follow efficient run patterns for Mahogany Homes. Actual rates depend on your attention level, client performance, and familiarity with building cycles. Experienced players can exceed the listed rates by 10-15%. See your earnings alongside XP rates with the GP per hour calculator.

Mahogany Homes

Overview

Mahogany Homes is a Construction minigame where you travel to NPC houses across Gielinor and complete building contracts. Talk to Amy at the Mahogany Homes office in Falador to get a contract. Each contract tells you which NPC's house needs repairs and what materials to bring. Plan your contracts and Carpenter Points with the Mahogany Homes calculator.

Contract Types

TierLevelXPPlanksPoints
Beginner1+~2562 Regular2
Novice20+~5124 Oak3
Adept50+~1,0245 Teak4
Expert70+~2,0486 Mahogany5

Fastest Training Method

Mahogany Tables (level 52+) with a Demon Butler. Build, remove, repeat. The butler fetches planks from your bank while you build. Peak rate: 900,000+ XP per hour. Gnome Benches (level 77+) are slightly faster at 950,000 XP/hour but require a higher starting level.

Cheapest Training Method

Mahogany Homes Expert contracts give approximately 280,000 XP/hour at about 3.2 GP per XP. For traditional methods, Oak Larders at 9.8 GP/XP are the budget king. Oak Dungeon Doors (level 74+) at about 5.9 GP/XP offer a middle ground between cost and speed.

Best Balanced Training Method

Oak Larders from 33-74, then Oak Dungeon Doors from 74-99 gives the best overall balance. You spend less than Mahogany Tables while maintaining reasonable XP rates. Total cost: roughly 55-65M GP, time: roughly 65 hours. Weigh the two routes against each other with the mahogany vs oak calculator.

Guía Completa de Entrenamiento 1–99 Construcción

Levels 1–19

Build Crude Wooden Chairs (58 XP, 2 Regular Planks) until level 4, then switch to Wooden Bookcases (115 XP, 4 Regular Planks) until level 9. From 9-19, build Wooden Larders (228 XP, 8 Regular Planks). This phase takes about 15 minutes and costs under 35,000 GP.

Levels 19–33

Build Oak Chairs (120 XP, 2 Oak Planks) or Oak Dining Tables. You need about 115 Oak Chairs to reach level 33. Cost: roughly 135,000 GP. Time: about 15 minutes. Check exact quantities with the construction material calculator.

Levels 33–52

Build Oak Larders (480 XP, 8 Oak Planks). This is where efficient Construction training starts. You'll build about 173 Oak Larders. Cost: roughly 812,000 GP. Time: about 28 minutes at 180,000 XP/hour.

Levels 52–66

If you want speed, switch to Mahogany Tables (840 XP, 6 Mahogany Planks). If you're on a budget, continue with Oak Larders. Mahogany Tables cost more but you'll clear this range in about 25 minutes at 900,000 XP/hour.

Levels 66–74

Teak Garden Benches (540 XP, 6 Teak Planks) offer a mid-priced option. Or continue with Mahogany Tables for speed. Oak Larders still work here for budget players.

Levels 74–77

Oak Dungeon Doors (600 XP, 10 Oak Planks) open up at level 74. They give excellent GP per XP at about 5.9 GP/XP — cheaper than Oak Larders with slightly better XP rates at 200,000 XP/hour.

Levels 77–99

Gnome Benches (840 XP, 6 Mahogany Planks) offer the fastest XP at 950,000 XP/hour. Same materials as Mahogany Tables but slightly faster building animation. This final phase costs roughly 137M GP and takes about 12 hours.

Budget Training Route

Crude Chairs to 19 → Oak Chairs to 33 → Oak Larders to 74 → Oak Dungeon Doors to 99. Total cost: about 55M GP. Total time: about 65 hours. Best for players who want to save every GP possible. Plan the whole run with the construction budget calculator.

Fastest Route to 99

Crude Chairs to 19 → Oak Chairs to 33 → Oak Larders to 52 → Mahogany Tables to 77 → Gnome Benches to 99. Total cost: about 150M GP. Total time: about 15 hours. For players with deep banks who want minimal training time.

Recommended Training Goals

Early Game Goals

Get to level 50 for basic POH rooms (portal chamber, bedroom). Cost under 2M GP. Takes about 1 hour.

Mid Game Goals

Reach level 70 to start Mahogany Homes Expert contracts and build a Gilded Altar (with crystal saw boost). Cost about 15M GP from level 1.

Max POH Goal (Level 83/84)

Level 83 with a Crystal Saw (+3) and Spicy Stew (+5) lets you build the Ornate Rejuvenation Pool (level 90 required, boostable from 82) and Ornate Jewellery Box (level 91, boostable from 83). Level 84 gets you the Portal Nexus (boosted to 92). Most efficient players stop here. Work out which levels you can boost past with the construction boost calculator.

Completionist Goal (Level 99)

The Construction Cape gives an unlimited teleport to your POH and a +1 level boost. It's a prestige goal. The cape costs roughly an additional 100M+ GP beyond level 83.

Important Unlocks by Level

The most impactful levels are 82, 83, and 84 — all reachable with a Crystal Saw and Spicy Stew boost from level 82/83/84 respectively. Level 82 is the single most important milestone because the Ornate Rejuvenation Pool changes how you play the game. Every PvM trip starts with a pool dip. Level 83 adds the Jewellery Box, which replaces a full inventory of jewellery. Level 84 gives you the Portal Nexus, which consolidates all your teleport destinations into one clickable interface. Track your progress toward each one with the milestone calculator, or set a target with the goal calculator.

Oak Plank Costs

Oak Planks cost about 586 GP each on the Grand Exchange. You can make them yourself at the Sawmill for 250 GP per plank (from oak logs), but buying them is faster. An Oak Larder uses 8 planks (4,688 GP per larder). Factor in servant fees with the butler cost calculator.

Teak Plank Costs

Teak Planks cost about 1,122 GP each. They're used for Teak Garden Benches (6 per bench = 6,732 GP per bench). The Sawmill charges 500 GP per teak plank from teak logs.

Mahogany Plank Costs

Mahogany Planks cost about 1,974 GP each. Mahogany Tables use 6 planks (11,844 GP per table). The Sawmill charges 1,500 GP per mahogany plank from mahogany logs. Mahogany Planks are the most expensive but give the fastest XP.

Essential POH Upgrades

Portal Nexus

Level 72 (boostable). Combines all portal teleports into one object. Supports up to 30 destinations at the highest tier. Requires marble blocks and gold leaf to upgrade. Plan your teleport list with the portal nexus calculator.

Gilded Altar

Level 75 (boostable from 67 with Crystal Saw + Stew). With both burners lit, bones give 350% Prayer XP. This is the primary reason most accounts train Construction early. Work out the bones and levels you need with the prayer calculator.

Ornate Rejuvenation Pool

Level 90 (boostable from 82). Restores hitpoints, prayer, special attack, run energy, and reduces stats. One click replaces multiple potions. The single most impactful POH upgrade. Estimate what a full build costs with the POH cost calculator.

Jewellery Box

Level 91 (boostable from 83). Contains every jewellery teleport in the game with unlimited charges. Replaces dueling rings, games necklaces, glory amulets, skills necklaces, and more.

Best POH Layout

Efficient Layout

Place the Portal Nexus two tiles from the garden entry. Put the Ornate Pool and Jewellery Box in adjacent rooms. Keep the total room count low — fewer rooms mean faster loading. Design your layout with the POH planner and size each space with the room calculator.

PvM Layout

Optimize for pool → jewellery box → portal nexus flow. PvM players use their POH between kills: pool dip for full restore, jewellery box teleport back to the boss. Keep these three features close together.

Guía del Mayordomo de Construcción

Butler vs Demon Butler

The regular Butler (level 40) costs 5,000 GP to hire and carries 20 items per trip. The Demon Butler (level 50) costs 10,000 GP to hire and carries 26 items per trip with faster travel time. For serious training, always use the Demon Butler — his speed increase directly raises your XP per hour.

Butler Costs

The Demon Butler charges 10,000 GP per 8 trips. For Mahogany Tables (6 planks per build), he fetches 26 planks per trip — enough for 4 tables. Over a full 1-99 grind, butler fees add roughly 3-5M GP to your total cost. A small price for the speed increase.

Butler Efficiency

Send the Demon Butler to the bank while you build. He returns by the time you finish building and removing one piece of furniture. This keeps your inventory stocked with zero downtime. The key is to never wait for the butler — if you're standing idle, your building cycle is too slow.

Mejoras de Construcción

Crystal Saw

The Crystal Saw from the Eyes of Glouphrie quest gives a +3 invisible level boost to Construction when building items. This doesn't increase XP — it lets you build items 3 levels above your actual level. Combined with Spicy Stew, you can build items up to +8 levels above your base. The Crystal Saw must be charged at Brimstail's cave.

Spicy Stew

Spicy Stew with orange spice gives a temporary +1 to +5 Construction boost (at random). You need to add 3 doses of orange spice for a chance at the +5 boost. The boost lasts 60 seconds. Combined with Crystal Saw (+3), you can reach +8 above your base level. This is how players build level 90 items at level 82.

Carpenter's Outfit

The Carpenter's Outfit from Mahogany Homes gives a flat 2.5% XP bonus to all Construction training when all four pieces are worn. It costs 3,200 Carpenter Points total. At Expert tier (5 points per contract), that's 640 contracts. The XP bonus applies to traditional training too, not just Mahogany Homes.

Tea Boost

A Cup of Tea built in your kitchen gives a +1 Construction boost, or +2 if you use the Ornate Kitchen upgrade. Less useful than Spicy Stew but more reliable since there's no randomness. Good for building items exactly 1-2 levels above your current level.

Guía de Construcción Ironman

Best Ironman Methods

Ironman accounts can't use the Grand Exchange, so planks must be made manually. Mahogany Homes is the best method for most ironmen since it uses fewer planks than traditional training. For traditional training, Teak Planks from the Hardwood Grove on Fossil Island offer the best balance of gather speed and XP per plank. Ironman accounts can plan the whole grind with the ironman construction calculator.

Gathering Planks

Chop teaks on Fossil Island with the Plank Make spell (requiring 86 Magic) to convert logs into planks without visiting the Sawmill. Each cast costs 1,050 GP in runes. The Sawmill near Varrock can also convert logs if you bring noted logs and GP. Kingdom of Miscellania passively generates teak or mahogany logs.

Saving GP

Ironmen should prioritize Mahogany Homes to reduce plank usage. The Plank Sack (350 Carpenter Points) is an early priority — it lets you carry more planks per trip. Kingdom of Miscellania set to teaks/mahoganies generates logs overnight. Thieving and Alching are the main GP sources for ironman Sawmill costs.

POH Upgrade Priority

Ironmen should target: Gilded Altar first (Prayer training), then Ornate Pool (PvM efficiency), then Jewellery Box and Portal Nexus. The pool is game-changing for ironmen who do a lot of bossing since it eliminates the need to carry restore potions for between-kill resets.

Consejos y Mejores Prácticas de Construcción

Efficient Training Tips

  • Use building mode (right-click your house portal) for uninterrupted building sessions
  • Position your camera so the build and remove options are in the same spot — this reduces mouse travel
  • Buy all planks before starting. Running out mid-session wastes time
  • Use a house in Rimmington for easy access to the general store for un-noting planks (if not using a butler)
  • Bring noted planks and coins to use with the Demon Butler for maximum speed

RuneLite Plugins

RuneLite's Construction plugin adds timers and object highlighting. The Mahogany Homes plugin highlights required objects and marks your current contract house on the map. The Menu Entry Swapper plugin lets you left-click "Build" instead of right-clicking.

Common Mistakes to Avoid

  • Don't forget to enter building mode before starting your session
  • Don't use Regular Planks past level 19 — they give poor XP
  • Don't skip the Crystal Saw quest — the +3 boost saves millions of GP on high-level builds
  • Don't aim for level 99 if you just want a functional POH — level 83 unlocks everything important
  • Don't buy planks one inventory at a time — place a large GE offer and let it fill

Preguntas Frecuentes

About 14 hours with Mahogany Tables/Gnome Benches, 46 hours with Mahogany Homes Expert, or 72 hours with Oak Larders. These are gameplay hours — actual calendar time depends on your play schedule.
With Oak Larders: about 217,000 Oak Planks. With Mahogany Tables: about 93,000 Mahogany Planks. With Oak Dungeon Doors: about 217,000 Oak Planks. The exact count depends on your starting level and any XP boosts.
From level 1 to 83 using Oak Larders costs about 12M GP. With Mahogany Tables from 52-83, it's about 25M GP. Level 83 is the most efficient stopping point since you can boost to build every important POH feature.
83 gives you the Ornate Pool and Jewellery Box (with boosts). 84 adds the Portal Nexus. If you use lots of teleports, go to 84. If you mainly want the pool for PvM, 83 is enough. The extra level costs about 1.5M GP with Oak Larders.
Level 82 with Crystal Saw (+3) and Spicy Stew (+5) reaches level 90, which lets you build the Ornate Rejuvenation Pool. This is the single most useful POH upgrade — it fully restores your HP, prayer, special attack, and run energy with one click.
For practicality, no. Level 83 unlocks everything you need. Level 99 gives you the Construction Cape (unlimited house teleport) and a max cape requirement. It costs over 100M GP more than level 83. Only go to 99 if you want the cape, are going for max, or enjoy the prestige.
Yes, if you value saving GP or dislike repetitive POH training. Mahogany Homes costs 40-50% less than traditional methods and is more engaging. The Carpenter's Outfit (2.5% XP boost) is also worth getting early. But if speed is your priority, traditional Mahogany Tables are 3x faster.
Gnome Benches (level 77+) at 950,000 XP per hour and Mahogany Tables (level 52+) at 900,000 XP per hour give the most Construction XP. Both require 6 Mahogany Planks per build and a Demon Butler for maximum efficiency.
Crystal Saw gives +3 invisible levels (from Eyes of Glouphrie quest). Spicy Stew with orange spice gives +1 to +5 (random). Tea gives +1 or +2. Crystal Saw stacks with Spicy Stew for a maximum +8 boost. Crystal Saw does not stack with tea.
Mahogany Homes Expert at ~3.2 GP/XP, followed by Oak Dungeon Doors at ~5.9 GP/XP, then Oak Larders at ~9.8 GP/XP. Mahogany Tables are the worst at ~14.1 GP/XP but are the fastest method.
Yes. Mahogany Homes is the best method for most ironmen since it uses fewer planks. Teak logs from Fossil Island with the Plank Make spell provide a steady plank supply. Kingdom of Miscellania generates logs passively. Most ironmen prioritize level 82-83 for the Ornate Pool and Jewellery Box.
XP values and plank counts are 100% accurate — they use the exact OSRS experience table and official XP values per build. GP costs are based on Grand Exchange prices and may vary ±5% based on market conditions. Time estimates have a ±15% margin depending on your efficiency and attention.
